Up2Us at the Parliamentary Friends of Landcare Showcase

Last week, Up2Us Landcare Alliance was proud to attend the Parliamentary Friends of Landcare Showcase at Parliament House in Melbourne. It was a fantastic opportunity to join more than 50 Landcare and environmental volunteer groups from across Victoria to celebrate the power of grassroots action and community-led environmental stewardship.

The event, held in Queen’s Hall, provided a valuable platform to connect with fellow Landcare networks, share ideas, and discuss common challenges. It was also an opportunity to meet with Members of Parliament and highlight the significant impact of Landcare projects across the Mansfield region.

We were especially pleased to meet with our local MP, Cindy McLeish, and Brad Rowswell MP, the Shadow Minister for Environment and Climate Change, to share the work we’re doing to support landholders, build community capacity, and deliver on-ground environmental outcomes.

A huge thank you to Landcare Victoria, the Victorian Environment Friends Network, and the Victorian Parliamentary Friends of Landcare convenors Richard Welch MP and Martha Haylett MP, as well as secretary Tom McIntosh MP and Melina Bath MP, for making this important event possible.

Events like this help raise the profile of Landcare and environmental volunteering, while reinforcing the need for ongoing support and investment in the sector. We left inspired by the many passionate volunteers working to care for Victoria’s landscapes.
