From Talk to Pond: Creating Frog Havens in Mansfield

Last Saturday, Up2Us had the pleasure of welcoming Frogs Victoria President, David De Angelis, who guided us through the practical steps of creating a frog-friendly space in the backyard or paddock.

David’s passion and knowledge about frogs—and how to attract them to our gardens—was contagious. Inspired by the session, Kim spent the weekend building a pond of her own! The Mansfield region is home to a variety of tree-dwelling and ground-dwelling frogs, each relying on water in different ways.

Designing a successful frog pond requires careful planning to ensure it caters to all species. Providing a mix of sunbathing spots, shallow and deep water, aquatic vegetation, multiple access points, and hiding places for tadpoles are all key elements to encourage frogs to make your pond their new home.
