Partnerships Against Pests is back for another year

The Victorian Government’s Partnerships Against Pests grants program continues to support frontline organisations tackling biosecurity threats. Mansfield’s Up2Us Landcare Alliance is proud to have been named among the 25 successful recipients in the program’s third round, announced by Agriculture Minister Ros Spence on December 11.

This funding will build on the progress of our “People Against Pests in the Mansfield Environment” project, which began as a pilot program in 2023. With $49,475 allocated for 2025, this funding will enable Up2Us to intensify efforts to manage invasive species across the Mansfield Shire, including feral pigs, rabbits, Paterson’s Curse, saffron thistle, and other noxious weeds.

Our approach focuses on fostering strong partnerships with landholders and community groups. Planned activities include three field days, large-acreage farmer discussion groups, an online seminar for absentee landowners, and subsidised chemical use training. Additionally, we’ll develop five multi-year land management plans to support local action.

“This funding is recognition of the critical work we do to protect our environment and agriculture,” said project officer Rhiannon Quigley. “By building trust within the community, we’re creating lasting impacts.”

Up2Us remains committed to addressing invasive species and maintaining the integrity of our shared landscapes for future generations.
