Feral Pig Distribution in Australia
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry released the National Feral Pig Current Distribution in Australia (2024) on the ABARES website on 13 December 2024.
This dataset provides a national map of current spatial distribution and relative abundance of feral pigs in Australia. It shows that feral pigs are widespread with significant populations across Australia, except mainland Tasmania.
More information describing the methodology used to construct the model, uses and limitations of the modelled dataset, map and metadata can be found on ABARES website here.
The map was produced using data obtained through collaboration with relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory Government departments, and many other stakeholders, and through collaboration with CSIRO who developed the methodology.
